Cancer

Cancer rehabilitation supports strength, function and quality of life at every stage of your cancer journey.

"Clinical guidelines recommend exercise be embedded as standard practice in cancer care, not treated as an optional extra."

A cancer diagnosis affects far more than the disease itself — treatment can significantly impact strength, fitness, and function. PINC Cancer Rehabilitation is specialist physiotherapy designed to support you through every stage of your cancer journey.

Surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and other cancer treatments can reduce strength, mobility, fitness and energy levels — sometimes long after treatment ends. PINC Cancer Rehabilitation is a physiotherapy-led program specifically designed to address these effects, and we're the only PINC provider in the Top End.

What does PINC Cancer Rehabilitation address?

PINC Cancer Rehabilitation supports people with any type or stage of cancer, addressing:

  • Reduced strength, fitness and physical function during and after treatment.
  • Fatigue related to cancer and its treatment.
  • Lymphoedema risk and management.
  • Loss of bone density associated with certain cancer treatments.
  • Confidence and quality of life during recovery.

Effective treatment and management with PINC Cancer Rehabilitation.

Exercise during and after cancer treatment is one of the most evidence-supported ways to reduce fatigue, protect bone and muscle strength, and improve quality of life — and emerging evidence even points to a reduced risk of cancer recurrence with regular exercise. Meagan Colsey, our Post Graduate-qualified PINC Cancer Rehabilitation physiotherapist, works with you to build a program tailored to your diagnosis, treatment stage and goals, run for one hour a week over a minimum of 8 weeks — with the flexibility to continue for as long as you need.
