Neck Pain

Neck pain is common and highly treatable — early physiotherapy helps prevent it becoming chronic.

"Neck pain affects around 30–50% of adults in any given year, and is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide."

Neck pain is one of the most common musculoskeletal complaints, often linked to posture, muscle tension or injury, and can range from a mild ache to significant, ongoing disability.

Whether it's from poor posture, desk work, sleeping position or an injury like whiplash, neck pain is extremely common — and in most cases, it responds well to targeted physiotherapy treatment.

What causes neck pain?

Neck pain can stem from a number of causes, including:

  • Poor posture, particularly from prolonged desk or screen work.
  • Muscle strain or tension, often stress-related.
  • Whiplash injury from a motor vehicle accident or trauma.
  • Degenerative changes, such as osteoarthritis or disc wear.
  • Referred pain or headaches originating from the neck (cervicogenic headache).
