Footprint™

A supported start to your physiotherapy career.

Starting your first physiotherapy role is an exciting step — but moving from university into clinical practice can also be a big transition.

Footprint™ is Movement For Life's early career development program, designed to give new and early-career physiotherapists the structure, support and additional learning opportunities they need to build confidence in clinical practice.

From structured onboarding and extended consultations to clinical mentoring, professional development and fortnightly group tutoring, Footprint™ provides support while you develop your skills and experience.

Start With a Strong Foundation.

Understand the practice before you are expected to navigate it.

Your first few weeks should be about more than simply learning where everything is.

Footprint™ includes structured onboarding with dedicated time to review and understand Movement For Life's systems, processes and standard operating procedures.

This gives you the opportunity to understand how the practice works, what is expected of you and how to approach your role with greater confidence.

Structured onboarding includes:

  • Time to review practice systems and procedures
  • Understanding standard operating procedures
  • Introduction to the way we work with clients and colleagues
  • Time to ask questions and clarify expectations

More Time to Build Clinical Confidence

Develop your skills without being rushed.

Moving from university placements into independent clinical practice is a significant transition.

Footprint™ provides extended initial and review consultations, giving you additional time to assess, plan, communicate and reflect as you develop your clinical skills.

The aim is to provide a supportive environment where you can progressively build confidence while gaining real clinical experience.

Learn With Support From a Senior Clinician.

You don't have to work everything out on your own.

Footprint™ pairs you with a senior clinician who provides clinical support and mentoring as you develop your skills.

Having an experienced clinician available gives you someone to discuss clinical presentations with, work through questions, reflect on your reasoning and learn from day-to-day clinical experience.

As your knowledge and confidence develop, the level of support can evolve with you.

Keep Learning From the Start.

Professional development designed to support your early career.

Your learning doesn't stop when you graduate.

Footprint™ provides access to additional professional development opportunities to help you build on your university knowledge and develop the practical skills needed in your new role.

Professional development may complement your clinical experience through targeted learning, discussion, observation and other opportunities relevant to your stage of development.

The goal is to help you connect what you learned at university with the clinical situations you encounter in practice.

Learn Together Through Fortnightly Tutoring.

Regular learning, discussion and clinical problem-solving.

Footprint™ includes fortnightly group tutoring sessions with a senior clinician.

These sessions provide dedicated time to explore clinical topics, discuss cases, ask questions and learn alongside other early-career physiotherapists.

Regular group learning provides another opportunity to consolidate knowledge, develop clinical reasoning and learn from different experiences and perspectives.

Build Confidence Through Experience

Learn, apply, reflect and keep progressing.

Clinical development takes time.

Footprint™ combines structured support with real clinical experience so that you can progressively apply your knowledge, develop your clinical reasoning and become more confident managing a broad range of presentations.

The program is designed to support your transition into practice while encouraging you to develop the independence, professional judgement and clinical skills needed for the next stage of your career.
